Modhesh - Mascot for DSS

Everybody knows about the "Dubai Shopping Festival" which is held around the beginning of the year. But little is known about another festival the "Dubai Summer Surprises"[DSS] which is targeted at children and ofcourse shoppers.

The DSS is for 3 months, same as the length of the summer holidays, for the children. The mascot Modesh epitomises the fun and excitement the children have during the period. Every week they have a theme and events are arranged accordingly....like the fashion week, the fairy land week, etc. This part of it is totally for the children.
Then the shopping; the red letter word SALE is visible everywhere. I personally think these sales are better than the ones offered during the shopping festival. A few of my friends who came from India shopped like crazy....the deals & offers were fabulous even according to them:-).

I clicked the above picture at the Modesh Fun World located inside the Airport Expo. A friend & I took our kids there last week. We went around 10 in the morning & came back only by 6pm but even then the kids were not done with all the games. Oh yes they had a marvellous time....we got tired just watching them:-).

There is an entrance fee of dhs.15 for parents & kids alike & once inside we have to pay again for each indiviudual game[except for the drawing corner & Legos].....the rates are reasonable compared to outside rates[ie. the mall rates] but it still does make a hole in our pocket especially when we end up spending a whole day there.

But it's totally worth it....according to the kids;-D
